The Kaduna State Government, a state in the North of Nigeria under the leadership of Governor Nasir el-Rufai, has begun installation of 1.7MW Solar across 34 Primary Healthcare Facilities in the State; in partnership with UK Department for International Development. Please see below for pictures of the work in progress.
This project is the first of its kind in Northern Nigeria. It is helping the Kaduna State Government achieve climate change goals and quality healthcare for the poor. The solar systems will eradicate the use of XX generators thereby reducing carbon emissions by XX and will impact over 2 million people. Across these facilities, 400,000 babies are born every year! Facilities are also made more energy efficient by replacing bulbs.
Once completed, the project will ensure that the healthcare facilities are constantly supplied all the power they need 24/7in a nation where power supply is often inadequate and epileptic. Furthermore, the solar system canopy provides additional waiting area for patients allowing the clinic to conveniently treat 30% more patients on a daily basis.
